The Patgrid Story
Founded in December 2024, Patgrid emerged from a simple yet powerful observation: while artificial intelligence was transforming various industries, patent analysis remained largely unchanged, relying on traditional keyword searches and manual review processes. We set out to change this by developing AI agents that could understand patents at a deeper level, analyzing their technical essence rather than just their surface-level descriptions.
This vision is brought to life by founders Thomas van Turnhout and Koen van Eijk, who previously demonstrated their AI expertise through Automagica - a pioneering Smart Robotic Process Automation software company. Their innovative approach to AI-driven automation caught the attention of Netcall plc, leading to a successful acquisition in 2020.
Thomas, a Civil Engineer from KU Leuven, brings technical expertise from his work at Proximus, while Koen combines his Masters in Finance, Accounting & Business Management with valuable experience as a former KPMG consultant. Together, they bring extensive experience in artificial intelligence and enterprise software development to the challenge of modernizing patent analysis.
